ABOUT ORLY SOFER PSY.D
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience treating adults with a wide range of presenting problems, diagnoses and needs. I help individuals improve their social, emotional, and behavioral problems and feel more satisfied in their connection with their families, their interpersonal relationships, and their careers. My goal is that through our work together, you will explore your history and uncover patterns that you may not have even been aware of, so that you can begin to have more control over your emotions and be excited about your life again. ​
I came to the United States as a teen and attended high school in NYC. I completed my undergraduate degree in Comparative Literature at New York University and my doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Albert Einstein School of Medicine. What drew me to both literature and psychology was my desire to understand the impact of history, culture, family dynamics, and individual predisposition on the formation of our sense of self and on the decisions we make in life. My training in psychology has allowed me to understand and accept aspects of our lives we cannot control but also recognize our capacity to change hard wired ingrained patterns in our lives.
I have worked in a variety of outpatient and inpatient settings, and with individuals from all walks of life.
I recognize that the process of therapy is slow and change takes time.
